Spital Cross Roads ? 1971
This was the terminus of Birkenhead Corporation's bus route 50, although I don't recall exactly where the terminal point was. The bus is heading towards Birkenhead, despite showing the outward destination. Despite their relatively modern appearance, the houses behind the bus have been replaced by a modern development of smaller detached houses. Note also the contrast between the modern 'Give Way sign on the left and the older Keep Left sign in the centre. The bus is former Birkenhead Corporation 45, now in the livery of its successor, the Merseyside PTE. It is a Leyland PD2 with Massey bodywork new in 1961. This is one of a series of views featuring buses in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=137652761
