Train at Port Sunlight station
Merseyrail electric unit 508 125 pauses at Port Sunlight on its way from Liverpool to Chester. These units were originally used for inner suburban services to and from London Waterloo, and were built as 4 car sets. After around five years, they were transferred to the Wirral to replace the prewar class 503 units; however, one intermediate trailer from each unit was retained for incorporation in some of the new class 455 units that replaced them on the Southern Region. Apparently, they went to the Southern to enable traction equipment to be recovered from the 4-SUB units for use in the 455s (their eventual replacements): see http://www.emus.co.uk/zone/southern/southern5.htm

Gladstone Arms, Bromborough Road, Port Sunlight
The sign on the end of the terrace suggests that the building was once a pub, however it obviously ceased being a pub quite some time ago and is now used as offices.
