Road junction by Hawarden Castle
The B5125 from Hawarden to Chester passes the entrance to Hawarden Castle on the right. Opposite that is Moor Lane. Against the hedge on the left are a modern bus stop and an older bus stop, with a post box between them.

This bench mark is probably mark number 89 on the Warrington to Pembroke Docks First Geodetic Levelling line 1851-1852. It is a few metres west of the entrance to Hawarden Castle at the bottom of Hawarden Hill Image

Hawarden Castle (new castle)
Built for Sir John Glynne, 6th Baronet in 1757, and altered in the 19th century. His great granddaughter Catherine married future Prime Minister William Ewart Gladstone in 1839 and they lived there.
