Arrowe Park Hospital
An unhealthy incongruity? Arrowe Park Hospital was built on a part of the park, itself. A post-industrial alien, landed, it seems, amongst the otherwise pleasantly sculptured fields & woodlands of Arrowe Park.

Scout World Jamboree Monument, Arrow Park
In 1929 the 3rd World Scout Jamboree was held at Arrowe Park, some 21 years after the publication of 'Scouting for Boys' by Baden-Powell. It was attended by 30,000 scouts and there were 300,000 visitors. It was at this event that the 'Golden Arrow' was adopted as the symbol of peace and goodwill by the scouting movement.
In 1931 the sculptor, Edward Carter Preston, was asked by the Boy Scout Movement to erect a sculpture to commemorate the event. The sculpture was restored in the 1980's.
Located at what is now the entrance to Arrowe Park Hospital, passed by millions yet few will know what it is there for.

Arrowe Park & the hospital chimney
In an otherwise pleasing landscape, is what appears to be a gigantic cigarette. Ironically, this is Arrowe Park Hospital chimney. The chimney is a visible landmark for up to five miles distant.

Crow, Arrowe Park
This picture was taken from behind the hospital, on the field which is used by the radio-controlled aircraft club. When I got a bit too close, this self-propelled aircraft decided to launch. He probably got a bit scared by a huge grey lens pointing at him.
