A memorial gateway
This four-arched entrance is made of sandstone and carries an inscription which reads: “Friend to the poor, generous promoter to all good works. Erected in 1912 A.D. In grateful remembrance of James Smith, 1841-1909, who converted this quarry into a pleasure ground.”
