'Brian' on Birkenhead Road, Seacombe ? 1964
Out of service and awaiting scrapping. Built by Avonside Engine Co of Bristol in 1918 (works no.1796), it was one of a number of locomotives owned by the Wrexham engineering firm Cudworth and Johnson and hired out to various businesses, in this instance Rea Ltd who carried out a lot of wharfage, as well as river tugs. A very similar engine to this, which is now preserved https://preservedbritishsteamlocomotives.com/avonside-engine-co-works-no-1772-askham-hall-0-4-0st/

Kings Wharf, Seacombe
You wouldn't really pay much attention to this piece of waste ground, unless you went looking for it. This spot is situated behind a small industrial estate, between Seacombe and Twelve Quays. This is actually a very good place for viewing the river traffic, and also for fishing as, behind the camera, you can look out onto the Mersey.
