Bench mark alongside Barton Road, Farndon
This large bench mark is on the gatepost in front of Glen Haven on Barton Road, Farndon, although the O.S. claim it belongs to Holly Cottage next door. The mark was recorded on the 1874 O.S. map levelled at 78.6 feet. See also Image]

Old Milepost by the former A534, Barton Road, Farndon
Cast iron post by the UC road (was A534), in parish of Farndon (Chester District), between crossroads with B6130, in front of Milestone House, West of Hardley Farm junction, in hedge of cottage, on South side of road. Cast iron CCC1898, erected by the County Council in the 19th century. Farndon Bridge and Sandstone Cliff
The area seems dominated by lovely sandstone cliffs, which, I'm told, were created by a geological fault. You can just see the medieval Farndon bridge in the background.
