Stanley Place
Note the coconut matting on the road. It made it safer for the racehorses when they were unloaded from boxes to go to the Roodee. Since this photo was taken new stables have been built closer to the racecourse and the Linenhall stables are no longer in use.

The Architect Pub Restaurant, Chester
The Architect pub restaurant was named in honour of Thomas Harrison, a Georgian architect who designed Grosvenor Bridge and the new Chester Castle. He designed the building shown here as his own residence, it later became office buildings for the County Police Headquarters which was built next to it before remaining empty for several years.
