Linenhall Public Car Park, Chester
Linenhall Public Car Park on St Martin's Way. From 1919, the site of the old Linen Hall had been occupied by stables used to accommodate horses taking part in the races on the Roodee. At present a car park, this is now a proposed development site for a 550-bed student complex in a joint venture between Chester Race Company, who own the former stables site, and London-based Stephenson Development (Southern) Holdings Ltd. It is expected the development will be complete for the start of the 2017 university academic year.

The Linenhall Stables were built just after the First World War on the site of the historic Linenhall. The stables served the Roodee racecourse, despite the fact that the horses then had to walk some distance over tarmac roads. In the early 2000s agreement was reached for new state of the art stables to be built on the old gasworks site with access to the racecourse through one of the arches of the famous railway viaduct.
