Oak Lane, Chatham
This is a part of Machen known as Chatham, now a comfortable suburb within easy commute of Newport or Caerphilly. The pub on the corner is called The Royal Oak, presumably after the adjacent oak tree, which like many others is probably not "the" one.

Footpath to Chatham
This part of Machen is known as Chatham. The footpath descends and turns left under the railway into Oak Road. The railway is freight only serving a nearby quarry, and runs just another half mile beyond this point.
