Colliery Road houses, Bedwas
Viewed from near the Rectory Road junction. Colliery Road formerly led to Bedwas Navigation Colliery which did not reopen after the miners' strike of 1984-85.

Rectory Road, Bedwas
There are houses on only one side of the road. The other side is the boundary wall of St Barrwg's church. Because of steeply sloping land hereabouts, the houses are based below street level.

St Barrwg's Church, Bedwas
The parish church is dedicated to St. Barrwg, who was a disciple of St. Cadoc, and had a hermitage on what is now Barry Island. The church is affiliated to the Church in Wales. It has a saddle-back tower, and dates back at least to the 12th Century, first appearing in historical records in 1102.

Issue and sink, Rectory Road, Bedwas
At the side of a road bridge http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2787879 over a dismantled railway line, a small stream issues from the side of the bridge and flows into a sink (covered by a metal grill). Shown on maps as issue and sink.

Relic of the Rumney Railway, Bedwas
The girder in the bridge carrying Rectory Road over the trackbed of a dismantled railway line to Bedwas Navigation Colliery has Rumney Railway 1855 stamped on its side. The Rumney Railway was originally an industrial tramway, built from 1826. It was later converted to a standard gauge railway.
