Barriers rising at Coedcae Lane level crossing, Pontyclun
Shortly after the passage of two trains (one in each direction) on the South Wales main line, the red lights have stopped flashing, the sirens have fallen silent and the barriers are rising clear of the roadway.

Red lights flashing - level crossing barriers about to descend, Pontyclun
This is where the South Wales main railway crosses over Coedcae Lane (or vice versa).
A train is imminent. The sirens are sounding and red lights are flashing to give any vehicle or person on the crossing time to get clear before the barriers descend. This a busy railway route, used by passenger trains and freight trains. It is not unusual for the barriers to remain down after a train has passed by, because another train is approaching the crossing.
