Memorial to Dr Joseph Parry and his widow, Jane, in St Augustine’s Church, Penarth.

Professor of Music at the University of Wales during the 1870s, perhaps Parry’s best known work is the poignant love song, Myfanwy.

I chanced upon this memorial while wandering through St Augustine’s churchyard just three weeks after hearing Myfanwy at the funeral of a very close friend. A moving moment!

St Augustine's Crescent, Penarth ? 1979
The bus is on an enthusiast tour following the route of the summer open-top service operated by Cardiff Buses at the time. The route included this steep climb to the top of the hill forming Penarth Head.
Bus 424 is a Guy Arab V with Neepsend bodywork, new in 1964 and converted to open-top in 1976.
