Memorial to Dr Joseph Parry
Memorial to Dr Joseph Parry and his widow, Jane, in St Augustine’s Church, Penarth. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/6681057/joseph-parry Professor of Music at the University of Wales during the 1870s, perhaps Parry’s best known work is the poignant love song, Myfanwy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myfanwy I chanced upon this memorial while wandering through St Augustine’s churchyard just three weeks after hearing Myfanwy at the funeral of a very close friend. A moving moment! The following link takes you to Bryn Terfel’s rendition: https://open.spotify.com/track/4dqG5CsiZJ9zofmqeYucaq?si=slKyOiLrRP6Lwo733mNGVQ

St Augustine's Crescent, Penarth ? 1979
The bus is on an enthusiast tour following the route of the summer open-top service operated by Cardiff Buses at the time. The route included this steep climb to the top of the hill forming Penarth Head. Bus 424 is a Guy Arab V with Neepsend bodywork, new in 1964 and converted to open-top in 1976. This is one of a series of views featuring buses in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=137652761
