Bedd Dafydd William's Grave
Dyma fedd yr emynydd adnabyddus, Dafydd William (1720-1794), Llandeilo Fach. Fe'i claddwyd yn 1794 ym mynwent Capel Croes y Parc, Llanbedr y Fro. Ei emyn enwocaf yw 'Yn y Dyfroedd Mawr a'r Tonnau'. Dywedir yr ysbrydolwyd ef i ysgrifennu'r geiriau ym mhorth Eglwys Llandeilo Tal-y-Bont (Pontarddulais) wedi iddo gael ei gloi mas o'i dy yn hwyr un nos gan ei wraig a thra roedd y llanw yn amgylchynu'r eglwys. This is the grave of the well known hymn writer, Dafydd William (1720-1794), Llandeilo Fach. He was interred in 1794 at Croes y Parc burial ground, Peterston Super Ely. His most famous hymn is 'Yn y Dyfroedd Mawr a'r Tonnau' (Trans. 'In the Great Waters and Waves'). It is said that he was inspired to write the words as he sheltered in the porch of Llandeilo Tal-y-Bont Church (Pontarddulais) as the incoming high tide was encircling him after returning home late one night and discovering that his wife had locked him out.
