'No motor vehicles' sign beside Sutton Rise, Ogmore-by-Sea
This sign is situated part way along the route Sutton Rise, which runs between Ogmore-by-Sea and Norton. The prohibition of motor vehicles from this point onwards is emphasised by the presence of a gate across the route just around the corner – see Image

Ogmore-by-Sea: Sutton Rise
Sutton Rise is a steep, narrow lane which has recently been cordoned off to through traffic (except cycles and pedestrians) behind us. We look across the mouth of the Ogmore River along the beach towards the town of Porthcawl.

Gate on Sutton Rise, Ogmore-by-Sea
This gate is situated at the point on Sutton Rise beyond (to the east of) which motor vehicles are prohibited. The stretch of Sutton Rise on the other side of it is effectively a path to Norton, although shown as an ordinary lane on Ordnance Survey and other maps – as indeed many years ago it was.
