Crispy Cod, Newport Road, Old St Mellons, Cardiff
The fish & chips shop is next door to Klip Joint Barbers shop. St Mellons Garage http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5436739 is on the right.
The postbox in the wall is a reminder that the building used to be Old St Mellons Post Office which served the local community from 1923 until it was forced to close in 2008 after a public consultation by Post Office Ltd.

Star Inn, Old St Mellons
St Mellons village evolved as a focal point for an agricultural area and as a small commercial centre catering for travellers on Newport Road, the main London to Cardiff route that has existed since Roman times.
There are three pubs/inns located close together on the north side of Newport Road. Shown here is the Star Inn on the corner of Church Lane.

Former Old St Mellons Post Office
Old St Mellons Post Office served the local community from 1923 until it was forced to close in 2008 after a public consultation by Post Office Ltd.
The sign "Old St Mellons Store & Pharmacy" above the doorway suggests that the business attempted to carry on after the loss of post office business, but the Seraph Estates board on the shop, and the shuttered door during business hours, suggest that the attempt failed.
