The single-track single-platform station is on the Coryton Line 6 km north of Cardiff Central station, between Heath Low Level station (ahead) and Birchgrove station. Ty Glas station has two entrances/exits. The one at the far end of the platform is via a level crossing to/from Field Way and Maes-y-coed Road.

Level crossing near Ty Glas railway station, Cardiff
The level crossing gives access to and from the station. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5106326 The path on the right side of the crossing leads to the northern end of Field Way. A Network Rail notice on the fence near the crossing states that a CCTV recording system is operated at this level crossing for the purposes of safety and crime prevention.
