Sails 1997 by Richard Thornton - Cardiff Bay
Another of many art projects incorporated into developments as a condition of development. It is unlikely that many passing this place on route to Argos et al will take any interest in it and it will gradually crumble away for lack of maintenance or be vandalised and removed. We live in a brave new world of optimists and dreamers where dreams and vision are unappreciated by those whose lives it is intended to enrich and wasted where there are greater needs.

Viewpoint on Penarth Moors - Cardiff
High above the 'moors' and giving splendid views, albeit of an urban industrial nature, in all directions above Cardiff Bay. Stone seating is provided and the area decorated with links from a huge chain, perhaps from a tanker or other such vessel. Some of these links have been cut and their faces have been sculpted with images designed by local children.

View across Penarth Moors toward Cardiff
The view, taken from the viewpoint on the moors, includes part of the surrounding industrial estate with Ikea ensuring its presence is known, Grangetown and, far right, the Millennium Stadium.

Link's eye view - Penarth Moors
View through a chain link forming part of the viewpoint above the moors toward the city and the Millennium Stadium. I assume that the link is from anchor chain from a very large ship, perhaps one that once visited the docks.
