Developments at Cardiff Queen Street Station
As part of a package of redevelopments, the disused northbound platform at Queen Street station is being brought back into use. Seen previously here: Image the track has now been relaid and connected to what will be Platform 5, including a spur heading to the side of the Newport Road bridge, perhaps suggesting the bridge may get widened too. Also new is the signal, part of a south Wales re-signalling project.

Buffers beyond the northern end of platform 3, Cardiff Queen Street railway station
In everyday use, platform 3 is only for the shuttle http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2991855 to Cardiff Bay. The single-carriage shuttle's northernmost limit is about 100 metres south of these buffers. There are points to enable a train to proceed north from , or arrive from the north at, platform 3 in exceptional circumstances.
