New livery of Santander bank in Queen Street
It is unusual for an institution to change its name to both a longer name and to one further down the alphabet but this is what the Santander bank has done in the UK - no doubt hefty bonuses were awarded to those responsible. The bank was created in 2009 from the amalgamation of the Abbey, Alliance & Leicester and the Bradford & Bingley banks. The new shop front also attracts the gaze of Aneurin Bevan, the founder of the NHS - see also the image taken by Keith Edkins, http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1376714, of this statue.

Another new Santander bank
This branch is directly opposite another Santander outlet. The Spanish bank first entered the UK market in 2004 when it purchased Abbey National plc. During the banking crisis of 2008/2009 it swallowed the Alliance & Leicester and the Bradford & Bingley banks.

Aneurin Bevan statue
The price of having a statue is that birds, probably in this case seagulls, use it as a toilet. Aneurin Bevan was a prominent Labour politician in the post-war Labour government.
