The Gatekeeper, Cardiff
Viewed across Westgate Street. The Wetherspoon website states that the pub is near the site of one of the five gateways through the medieval city walls. Originally called Wales Gate, it became known as Blounts Gate after a former gatekeeper.

Jones Court, Cardiff city centre
Jones Court was built in the 1830's by the Marquis of Bute to house workers during the construction of Cardiff docks. Before shops appeared in the city centre there were lots of these courtyards all over to house the workers.

One of the oldest streets in Cardiff dating from the 12th century. Used to be known as Hummanbye street. ‘Hummanbye’ is thought to derive from the old Norse word ‘Hundemanby’ which means “the strangers’ quarter”.
