The Goat Major,Cardiff
Small pub at 33 High Street, near Castle Street. Sources for the origin of the unusual name differ, and include some fanciful notions. There is general agreement that the name is connected with Welsh regiments and goat mascots. The 'goat major' is the soldier in charge of the regimental mascot. His rank is actually corporal, not major.

The Goat Major, High Street, Cardiff
Pub at 33 High Street, a few metres from the T-junction with the A4161 (Duke Street and Castle Street). The pub's website states that its name comes from their close association with the 41st Regiment of Wales, one of two British regiments to have a goat as its mascot. The soldier in charge of the regimental mascot is called the goat major, though his rank is corporal.
