This church, dedicated to St Mary, dates back to the 11th century. Curiously, it does not have a steeple.

The Moot Hall, Steeple Bumpstead, Essex
This 16th century building originally housed the school, which was founded in 1592. Formerly the ground floor was open, having small four-centred arches. It is a very charming well preserved building.
