St Laurence's RC Church
The church in Milton Road, serving the northern suburbs of Cambridge, was completed in 1962 to a design by Wearing & Hastings of Norwich, their only significant building in Cambridgeshire. Simon Bradley in his 2014 revision of Pevsner's guide found it "old-fashioned enough to sport a Gothic rose window" (hidden behind a tree in this view, but well seen in Kim Fyson's photo Image).

The new Milton Road library
The building nears completion at the corner of Ascham Road. The historic Image from the previous Image has been retained and can be seen behind the parked car. In the background can be seen the gable end of the adjacent Image with its retro-inspired rose window.

Milton Road Library
A branch library in the leafy suburbs, opened by the City Council in 1936. Former patrons have included Michael Ramsey, Archbishop of Canterbury and Andrew Wiles, mathematician.

Old library door
Image incorporates as a feature the old front door from the 1936 library building, preserving a link with the thousands of readers who must have passed through during more than eight decades of service to the community around Ascham Road.
