Towards Cambridge North Station
A view from Fen Road level crossing. The line between Cambridge and Ely was closed for engineering works at Waterbeach on this sunny Saturday morning in November. The distant cranes in the centre of the picture are on the site of an hotel which is being built next to the station. The red lamp in the foreground shows the line is not in use.

Fen Road Level Crossing and a site entrance
A southbound train heads towards the bridge over the Cam. To the left is the entrance to the Abbey-Chesterton Bridge building site. The crane is used to lift shuttering on to the ferroconcrete north abutment, which has been taking shape in recent months. The bridge will carry The Chisholm Trail, a new cycle path which will link Cambridge and Cambridge North (right) railway stations.
