Chesterton: new houses on Fen Road
Houses going up next to the north-bank site where the Abbey-Chesterton Bridge is being built (part of the fabricated steel span, which will be lifted into place in late October 2020, is on the left). Abbey-Chesterton Bridge: the deck on the north bank
This huge steel fabrication will be lifted into place when the ferroconcrete abutments are complete, in August 2020. This is a view through the site security fence from the riverside path. The bridge will carry The Chisholm Trail, a new cycle path which will link Cambridge and Cambridge North railway stations and provide a safe route out of the city to the north and north east. Image] is a view from the other side of the site.

Abbey-Chesterton Bridge works: temporary path
Work continues on the approaches to the new bridge. The riverside path is closed and a temporary diversion takes users across the site to Fen Road, there to use the level crossing (its raised red-and-white barrier is on the left of the picture) before returning to the towing path a little way beyond the railway bridge. See Image] and Image], taken just before this picture.
