The north end of Queen's Road
Queen's Road runs along The Backs and is part of Cambridge's inner ring road. The tower of Westminster College, at the corner of Madingley Road and Northampton Street, is cased in scaffolding.

St John's College: Merton Hall
Merton House ("C16 extended to the North in the C17. Long narrow house, two storeys with attics; part timber-framed and plastered, part brick; tile roof, north end wall brick with shaped gable" - Grade II* listing) is in the centre of the picture. Beyond and to its left is The School of Pythagoras, which dates from c 1200 and is both the oldest secular building in Cambridge and the oldest building continuously in use by a university in Britain. The building now serves as the location for the College Archives. To the right is part of Merton Court, the college's eleventh and westernmost court. The picture was taken from Northampton Street.
