Changed forever
A few years ago this view would have been dominated by irrigation machinery at this time of the year. There was always a good view when arriving in Cambridge on the train from London.

What's behind the fence?
New houses!
This part of the site is known as the character area 'Royal Showground' and behind the fence is the sub-character area referred to as "Grand Court". This will be an area of high housing density.

Clay Farm: on Hobson Avenue
Hobson Avenue is the main route through the huge new Clay Farm estate on the southern edge of Cambridge, from Addenbrooke's Road to Long Road (ahead). Further north it becomes Lime Avenue.

No houses yet
You can be sure building work is taking place behind the blue fence. At least during the construction phase the developers have gradually allowed public access. If not I would have been guilty of a lot of trespass in an effort to document the changes.
The road has yet (2014) to be named.
