Bourn: part of the ford at Caxton End
Bourn Brook crosses the lane behind the camera. A tributary stream joins from the right and flows down the side of the road. On the right the fenced footpath is raised above likely flood levels. Shadows were deep and the sun low in the sky on a bright November morning.

At Caxton End the lane fords two streams. A nameless one comes out of a culvert to the left and runs down the road to join Bourn Brook just round the corner (see Image]).

Bourn: the ford at Caxton End
The winter of 2020-21 has been wet, and debris on the banks and further back up the road show that the ford has been deeper than it was on this sparkling springlike morning at the end of February. Rose Cottage, on the right, is Grade II listed and dates from the seventeenth century.
