A great school project
Congratulations to the local school teacher who came up with this excellent project. I am sure the kids had great fun visiting the different buildings in their immediate area.

St Clements Church Cambridge
Built in 1821. Architect Charles Humfrey added the tower which sits incongruously with the rest of the church which is much older.

Church of the Holy Sepulchre
Commonly known as The Round Church (as can be seen from the street name) this building is in fact no longer used as a church (its congregation having decamped to St Andrew the Great) and is instead used for activities such as brass rubbing.

Church of SS Clement and Athanasios
This church in Bridge Street is shared by Anglo-Catholic and Greek Orthodox congregations. Pevsner and Bradley note that "The exterior is dominated by Charles Humfrey's somewhat silly west tower inserted in 1821-2 after a bequest by the antiquary William Cole (his motto above the west door). A spire ('Humfrey's Extinguisher') was removed in 1928. Cole actually wanted a detached bell-tower. [The tower] is cemented, and so clearly of its date that one does not expect a church essentially of the 13th century behind." The punning motto Deum Cole ("Worship God") is displayed in a lozenge above the west door. The Revd Edward Conybeare in 1910 noted the inscription but passed swiftly on, commenting that the church "has nothing to detain us".
