Great Eastern Street on a March afternoon
The street is named after one of the railway companies which served Cambridge until the railway grouping of 1923, when the GER became part of the LNER. A bright and chilly afternoon followed a snowy morning.

The distant cranes - not being used on a Sunday - are on The Timber Works building site, formerly Ridgeons Builders' Merchants, off Cromwell Road. This street took its name from the railway company which operated the line from Liverpool Street to Cambridge and King's Lynn.
