Littlebury: The Thatched Cottage
The Grade II listing reads "C18 timber-framed and plastered building. Two storeys. Small casement windows. Roof thatched, hipped at the west end, with a central chimney stack. At the east and west ends on the front the thatch sweeps down to ground storey ceiling level."

B1383 winding through Littlebury
Littlebury was the childhood home of the photographer's mother and the white house seen centrally (just the nearer half) was her actual house; a farm labourer's cottage in those days. Early childhood holidays spent in the house are recalled when there was no indoor or even any flushing lavatory and water was fetched from a standpipe somewhere near to the salmon pink house.
The road is now the B1383 but was once the A11.
