View from the level crossing at Rookery Lane
The railway line to Cambridge was opened by the Eastern Counties Railway on 30th July 1845. This view looks from the level crossing on the edge of Wendens Ambo, towards Audley End station which is just beyond the bend in the distance.

Level crossing at Rookery Lane
The railway line to Cambridge was opened by the Eastern Counties Railway on 30th July 1845. This view looks over the level crossing on the edge of Wendens Ambo, just south of Audley End station. Presumably the house on the far side once belonged to the crossing keeper.
