Walden Castle
All that remains is the flint and mortar core of the first two stories of the keep, which was originally three stories. Built in around 1141-1143 by Geoffrey de Mandeville, 1st Earl of Essex later arrested by King Stephen and lost his castle. It was slighted in 1157 to render it indefensible. It passed to the De Bohun family in 1347. Grade I Listed Building.
