ABW Hardware, Gelt Road
The shop has an extensive range of stock for DIY, home and garden needs. Thanks to 'My Wesleyan Methodists' https://www.mywesleyanmethodists.org.uk/content/chapels/cumbria/brampton_gelt_road_wm_chapel_cumberland we learned that the building was originally a chapel seating 600 people, built in 1836.

Low Cross Street, Brampton
Seen from Front Street. This is a cross roads, with Gelt Road behind the camera. The 'cross' part of the name is because it crosses from Main Street to Front Street, and 'Low' to distinguish it from High Cross Street a little further up the valley on which the town is centred.

4 Front Street and 1 High Cross Street, Brampton
4 Front Street is a handsome building, and seems to be divided into several offices, judging by the number of brass plaques each side of the door. A quick internet search reveals it to contain Brampton Library (perhaps out-of-date), and a tanning studio. The narrow tapering building at the entrance to High Cross Street is new since the OS map of 1926, which shows a rectangular building continuing the line of the building behind. This was evidently demolished for road widening.

1 to 5 Lorne Terrace, Front Street, Brampton
Grade II Listed and described as shops and cafe with flats above and end house. It is late 18th century with 19th and 20th century alterations to the ground floor. In 1880 'five houses in Lorne Terrace' (and over 30 other properties including two pubs) were part of the estate of John Ramshay deceased. No.1, Cumbrian Optical Company, retains its early 20th century butcher's shop facade. No.2 The Terrace Gallery has a 20th century shop front. Previously it was Oh Pair Ltd (2019-2020), Lowether Furniture, Give It Gifts and Adorn Bridal Wear. I also found with this address Bram-tan Tanning Hair & Beauty. In 2002 Change of Use was granted from 'Shop To Coffee/Smoothie Bar'. No.3 Berti's Fish and Chips also has a 20th century shop front. No.4 Alona Cafe also with a 20th century shop front appears to have been closed for some years and now seems to be incorporated with No.3 as it is addressed with No.3 as Berti's. No.5 retains its early 19th century shop window but is now Rodford House. Nos. 1 and 2 have separate doorways to 1A and 2A. No.3 similarly has an additional door, presumably all of them to flats above the shops.

23 Age UK, 25 Bespoke and 27 The Capon Tree, Front Street, Brampton
Nos. 23, 23A and 25 were Grade II Listed in 1984 as Bampton Sports, flat above and Antique Shop. Formerly a late 17th century house with later alterations. No.23 has a 20th century shopfront and no. 25's is late 19th century, previously Abbey Antiques. No.23 was previously Pristine Laundry and possibly an off-licence and Brampton Video Centre in the 1990s. Whilst no. 25 had a flat above the shop, it was being used for storage until 2019 when planning approved its use as a dwelling again. No. 27 is Grade II Listed late 18th century former house with 19th century alterations. The door surround is 18th century and the window surround 19th century. It was listed in 1984 as Rockingham Coffee House.
