Roofless building, Howk Bobbin Mill

Power for the mill came from the Cald Beck, via an exceptionally large water wheel (diameter c.13m), which was located just behind this building.

Coppice store at the ruined bobbin mill at Howk
The swift waters of the Whelpo Beck provided the power for numerous mills along this watercourse in the 19th Century.
