All Saints Church, Scaleby - September 2016 (1)
Believed to be early 13th Century with 14th Century tower, the Church was substantially rebuilt in 1861. Grade II listed, some of the dressed sandstone blocks are believed to have come from Hadrian's Wall. Sadly, the Church is not open to the public outside hours of worship.

A post office calls
Throughout rural Cumbria, village post offices have now been replaced with an "outreach" service, with a mobile post office calling for a half hour every week. Here seen at Scaleby village; see also Image where the same van had been stationed at Smithfield a short time earlier.
