Royal Oak Inn, Welton
This pub is a traditional meeting place for the Cumberland Farmers Foxhounds. We are not sure if it is still open, as a "To Let" sign was round the back.

Former "Royal Oak", Welton - August 2017
Possibly mid-19th Century (when the village Church was built), the Royal Oak came under State Management at a date yet to be unearthed. However, State Management Scheme records show it was sold to Greenall Whitley on 24 May 1973. Seems to have closed circa 2009 (Rose & Trev Clough photographed the pub just after closure - see: Image] ) and it is now a private dwelling.

St James' Church, Welton - May 2017 (1)
Built in 1873 as a Chapel of Ease in the Parish of St Mary, Sebergham, St James' was added to Holy Trinity Parish, Rosley after a pastoral reorganisation in 1976. Sadly, the Church is not open outside hours of worship.
