Cemetery office and curator's house

Main entrance to Carlisle Cemetery
This Grade II listed building is in Richardson Street, and dates from 1855, when the cemetery opened. To the left of the archway is the curator's house, to the right the cemetery office.

Cemetery gateway
Carlisle Cemetery is considered one of the best in the U.K., and has won Cemetery Of The Year awards in 1998, 2006 and 2007. The plaques are displayed on the left of the gateway.

Roe deer in Carlisle Cemetery (3)

Deer have been living in the cemetery for several years. They run off to a safe distance when they see people, but are not as skittish as ones we've come across out in the country.
