Woolpack Inn & Hardknott Brewery
Situated at the western end of the Hardknott Pass, the Woolpack Inn sells beers from its own brewery. There were two real ales on handpump when I visited both with very distinctive flavours; a very light pale ale with a strong hoppy bitterness and a slightly darker ale with strong peaty characteristics - flavours owing much no doubt to the local water used.

Woolpack Inn Baa
The sign over the door is written Baa, with a picture of a sheep http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1059747 This Inn is the home of the Hardknott brewery & serves excellent real ales & cider. It is also the start & finish of the Woolpack walk a 19 mile circuit with 6500ft of ascent, a true challenge.

Road to Hardknott Pass
There is little indication here where the road passes the Woolpack Inn of the extreme gradients drivers will face in about two miles where the ascent of the pass begins.
