Maryport Harbour
Another view of the new buildings around this old commercial harbour. The historic vessel is the 1951 steam tug Flying Buzzard (aka Harecraig II). She has now sailed for new waters with a diesel in place of her 1150 horsepower compound steam engine (the latter is in the Scottish Maritime Museum, Irvine).

The tug on the left is Chipchase with a pair of Plenty inverted vertical triple expansion engines. She has been broken up and one engine is on display at Clydebuilt, Braehead. In the middle is VIC96. She has been saved and is being restored at Chatham. Good news. On the right is the 1951 built Harecraig II (aka Flying Buzzard). She has been converted to a diesel tug and is due (has gone?) to go overseas. Her Fleming and Ferguson compound engine is at the Scottish Maritime Museum site in Irvine. There are no steam ships at Maryport anymore. The fourth vessel we saw this day was the SY Schaarhorn - now preserved in steam at Hamburg.
