Wigton Rd, Allonby
The building on the right, Globe Inn Cottage and Easdale Cottage, used to be the Globe Inn. An advert in the Carlisle Journal, 15 Feb 1861 and subsequently, offering its lease, described it as "that excellent and well-accustomed INN, with Stable, Barn, and all necessary Outbuildings attached, called the Globe Inn, in ALLONBY, most advantageously situated on the road leading to Wigton".

Alleyway in Allonby
For alliterative and rhyming purposes I just had to find something resembling an alley here! The street name says Clark Terrace but I am unsure if that applies to the curving cul-de-sac or to the houses facing to the right. Pity about the car in the middle of the view.

The Ship Hotel, Allonby - March 2017 (1)
Also known as simply "The Ship" or the "Ship Inn", this is a former 17th Century coaching inn on the Carlisle - Workington road. Its moment of fame came in 1857 when Charles Dickens and Wilkie Collins stayed for a night. While very remote, it did not escape the clutches of the Carlisle State Management Scheme, being under State ownership from October 1918 until sold for £7,600 on 23 May 1973. Still trading.
