The Magpie Inn, Victoria Road, Carlisle - March 2017 (1)
Designed by Harry Redfern and built by Laings, The Magpie Inn opened on 4 December 1933. In an "uncluttered Arts & Crafts style", the site had room for a bowling green, which still exists (albeit disused) at the rear of the premises. Sold by the State Management Scheme to Greenall Whitley on 22 May 1973, the pub has been closed at times in recent years, but is now trading.
