View NW from the Gordon Walker chalet
View NW from the front of the Gordon Walker chalet in Stair, a Ramblers' Association facility http://www.ralakedistrict.talktalk.net/html/chalet.html. Gordon Walker was a member of the Ramblers from Workington. His dream of a place in the Lake District where members could take a cheap holiday was realised in 1962, when the chalet was opened by Marjorie Wakefield of Keswick, President of Lake District Area. (There is a seat in the garden in her memory.) In the distance can be seen the eastern side of Barrow. The building on the left edge through the trees is part of the Newlands Adventure Centre http://www.activity-centre.com/?c=facilities&a=grounds.
