The Dog Beck is a recently opened pub in Penrith, operated by the Wetherspoon pub chain. The new pub is less than 30 metres away from Image According to the local newspaper http://www.thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk/news/11312801.__1_5_million_new_Wetherspoons_will_open_next_week_with_45_jobs the pub opened in July 2014 on the site of a former nightclub. The pub is adjacent to the recently opened New Squares development.

A decidedly sorry looking derelict building on Southend Road. The building and the adjacent closed pub contrast starkly with the newly built New Squares development on the other side of the road and a close by recently opened Wetherspoons pub.
