That's how it's done....
Placed over the cricket pitch, the rain runs off the surface into the lateral guttering of the device from whence it flows down the hoses and is deposited beyond the pitch. Ingenious or what!!

The Patterdale cricket pavilion
There's not much action here today but the cricket field is undoubtedly well maintained. I was talking to a shepherd a few minutes ago who tells me the village has a strong team at the moment. It's grand to see that some of the old English village traditions are still popular.
