"May the giving hand never falter...."
This is the "poor man's box" which is situated near the south door of the church and has been in existence since 1648 and is still in use as an alms box today. I love the simplicity of the design and the function of the locking device created by a blacksmith all those years ago.

St Laurence's Parish Church
This church stands on a site that has been used for Christian worship since before the Norman Conquest. The tower is the only piece of the original building which exists to the present day. This tower is the only Saxon tower in Westmorland and Cumberland.
