Grooves, porch of St Lawrence's Church, Morland
The sandstone blocks inside the porch are scored by these vertical grooves. I have seen scratches on the uprights of the porch here Image which were described as marks made by mediaeval archers sharpening their arrows in the days when archery practice was compulsory.

The Parish Church of St Laurence, Morland
This church stands on a site that has been used for Christian worship since before the Norman Conquest. The tower is the only piece of the original building which exists to the present day and is the only Saxon tower to be found in Westmorland and Cumberland.
