Memorial, St Patrick's Church, Bampton Grange
Visible on the east end Image The bronze plaque is difficult to read due to the patina of oxidation and the height off the ground. The writing is small and is also Latin (I have an 'O Level' but can only make out the odd word!). The sandstone of the memorial itself is flaking badly.

Close-up of the plaque - memorial, St Patrick's Church, Bampton Grange
The contrast and light have been pushed a lot here to try and make the writing stand out but it is still difficult to read. If any Latin scholars out there can help please feel free. Note the cheery skull and crossbones at the bottom just to get you in the mood.

John Marshall grave, St Patrick's Church, Bampton Grange
'John Marshall born at Warton in the county of Lancaster'. He died in 1851 aged 91 years, a very good age for the time (his wife Mary lived to be 103!). This would give his birth year as 1760 - Ali found him in the online parish records http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Warton-near-Lancaster/stoswald/baptisms_1745-1762.html#TAIL 'Son of John Marshall & Elisabeth' This is where he was baptised on June 30th, 1760 Image
