Great Northern Street
As this street runs parallel to the railway line (behind houses to the right), I wonder if its name was derived from the railway? The houses look possibly like railway workers cottages. The road comes to an abrupt halt with the wall of a supermarket.

Co-op, Lisburn Road, Belfast
The present Co-op supermarket, between Ferndale Street and Rathgar Street on the western side of the Lisburn Road. The Co is to vacate the building which will then become a branch of Marks & Spencer Image The larger NI Co-op supermarkets have been reducing in number over the last few years (Ballymena, Bangor and Carrickfergus). To a mere customer they seem dull and old-fashioned. Even the small shops Image just don’t seem to be up to the standard of Spar Image It appears that the post office Image will move elsewhere. Former supermarket, Belfast
See Image and Image - work now well underway to convert the former Co-op superstore to a branch of Marks & Spencer. An important point to note: the internal branch of the Post Office has gone along with the postbox that sat outside Image Most annoying as I regularly used both..... (the Post Office is due to relocate to another shop close by but, at the time of writing, has not opened as yet).

Rathgar Street
Off the Lisburn Road. I love these houses - very unusual design for this part of Belfast.

An old painted advert for the 'Picture Post' which was published in the UK from 1938-57 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picture_Post . On the corner of Marlborough Avenue and the Lisburn Road in Belfast, until recently this was covered up by signage for the shop below.
